Kids plant trees

South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership are proud to support Kids Plant Trees community projects in South Yorkshire

Kids Plant Trees is a not-for-profit organisation set up by a bunch of local (tired) mums, working to give more children in South Yorkshire the opportunity to get outdoors and connect with nature by planting a tree or two!

@KPT – The photo featured is from a recent planting day at Old Tannery Road in Barnsley, where school children could get involved with creating more beautiful green space in South Yorkshire which we can all enjoy together for years to come.

They have been doing amazing work since 2020 and set out to do something practical with their families, to help to tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis by helping nature on our doorstep. They partnered with Sheffield City Councils community forestry team and have received funding from South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership through the TCAF project to deliver family-friendly tree planting events. 🤝🌳

Upcoming events:

19th Jan 25 – Whip Planting (public session) at Parkwood Springs, Sheffield. (SCC)

3rd Feb 25 – Whip Planting with school groups at Linley Bank, Sheffield (SCC)

16th Feb 25 – Meadow Tree Planting at Thrybergh CP, Rotherham (RMBC)

More to be announced soon.

🌱 Do you know any land owners in your local area? 🌱

If yes, maybe they’d like to host a tree planting event on their land?! Please direct them to the South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership webpage and encourage them to enjoy the benefits of planting woodlands and engaging their community.

This remarkable project is made possible through the Trees Call to Action Fund, developed by Defra in partnership with the Forestry Commission and delivered by the Heritage Fund.

Let’s grow together, and help to create a sustainable and biodiverse future for South Yorkshire! 🌳💚
