Plot That Plastic: Help us do more6 November, 2024 6 November, 2024 South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership are keen to support the Forest Plastics Working Group and would like to raise awareness of the Plot That Plastic App and encourage people to get involved.Tree guards can be essential for helping trees to establish by protecting them from browsing animals such as deer and rabbits, sheltering them from other damage, and making them visible whilst they grow. The issue comes when plastic tree guards are left in the environment for too long and forgotten about. This then leads to plastic pollution. There are other more environmentally friendly and biodegradable options available on the market but often plastic ones are still the most cost-effective choice. This app has been created as a Forest Plastics Working Group Project, which aims to map where plastic tree guards are in the environment across the U.K. That data is then used to help coordinate the removal of these plastics when they are no longer required, remove legacy plastic tree guards and locate the best place for your closest recycling hub across the country. This app has been created in partnership with the Forestry Commission , Essex County Council, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust & Essex Wildlife Trust. Please scan the QR code to get involved! Have you spotted a plastic tree guard/shelter anywhere? You can start plotting it either on your desktop or via the app!
