Having held board roles in commercial businesses for many years, Antony brings a wealth of strategic leadership, commercial, and management expertise.
Antony Davies, who enjoys a view of Blacka Moor nature reserve from his home, can often be found spending his weekends running, cycling, or walking his dog across Blacka Moor and its neighbouring moors. He also volunteers with the Eastern Moors Partnership, a collaboration between the National Trust, RSPB, and the Peak District National Park Authority. “Spending so much time there, I appreciate and value the work of SRWT, experiencing first hand the health and wellbeing benefits that access to such inspiring landscapes brings,” Antony explains.
Currently, Antony leads a regional innovation programme at Sheffield Hallam University, and he sees opportunities to extend the Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust’s (SRWT) network. “I’ve got a substantive network that I can connect to the Trust to extend its range of external stakeholders, including from businesses, public sector bodies, civic leaders and academia,” he notes. With a career background in applying for funding at regional, national, and EU levels, particularly in sectors like environment, biodiversity, and climate action, Antony believes his experience would also benefit the Trust.
Having held board roles in commercial businesses for many years, Antony brings a wealth of strategic leadership, commercial, and management expertise. “I can bring those strategic leadership, commercial and management skills to the Trust, to support the executive team and fellow trustees,” he says. A member of the Institute of Directors since 2005, he adds, “I also bring a strong governance background, having sat on and chaired many boards, committees and steering groups, including in the charity and non-profit sector.”
